Liverpool MC’s, Doug Gorge Tour, 26th October – a new event coming soon!

In a ‘new’ departure for the club, we are organising a Touring Assembly event on 26th October. We say ‘new’, because this type of event once featured regularly in the Club’s long history, and it’s the first time in well over 30 years that Liverpool Motor Club has organised such an event.

The Tour is named in memory of Doug Gorge, one of our highly active past members, who would have most certainly enjoyed taking part in such a fun event.

It’s not a competition and speed is not measured. It’s a car-based social event that tests your basic navigational skills to follow a fairly simple route around the delights of SW Cheshire and the Wirral, in your normal road car, in the company of other members and friends of the club.

The total route distance is about 120 miles.
The event pre-start documentation will be at Hotel Wrexham, Wrexham Road, Holt, LL13 9SW where breakfast rolls, tea and coffee will be available to purchase if you wish.
The day has been designed for two people; additional passengers are welcome and may be carried (for an additional fee).

You will be given an easy-to-follow tulip road book to take you along our carefully designed meandering route. The roads will lead you through the classic Cheshire lanes to a light-lunch halt (food here is included in the entry fee).

After lunch, the route continues through Cheshire and Wirral before heading to the finish in New Brighton. Optional food (‘pie& peas’ and a sweet) will be available at the finish but needs to be pre-booked (at an extra cost of just £14 per person) when you enter the event.

The run is designed to show you samples of the pleasant scenery of this part of the world, and perhaps reveal places you haven’t visited before.

Any surplus from the event will be donated to the North West Air Ambulance charity.
