Covid-19 Restrictions 12th June Barbon – Important update

By Chairman • May 15th, 2021
To be able to run a Covid-safe Barbon Hillclimb on June 12th, we will have to reduce the maximum number of entries. As a result, the event likely to be full, so if you are thinking of taking part, get your entry in soon, or you’ll end up on the reserve list!
This is going to be a popular event, but we regret that under current Government restrictions, it appears that spectators will not be allowed to attend.
Competitors will be allowed to have a maximum of 3 people on their support “team”, but all names and contact details will have to be specified on the competitor’s self-declaration which is to be returned by the Wednesday before the event (8th June). (Forms will be sent out with the final instructions)
Unfortunately, unless they are part of a competitor’s support team, members of LMC &/or KLMC will not be allowed to attend as spectators.

Summary of measures required to comply with the latest MSUK & Government restrictions:-
2m social distancing will compulsory at all times.
No spectators – no exceptions!
No members from the organising clubs unless previously declared as a marshal or official, or declared with a competitor.
Marshals – let us know you wish to attend by completing our marshals volunteering form
Max 3 people accompanying a competitor (must be declared in advance).
No signing on at the event, for anyone – competitors, teams, marshals or officials. All must sign on by email before the event.
Signing-on declarations must be returned by email by 8th June. No declaration, no admittance!
No paperwork at the event.
No monitor displaying times.
Live times will be available online at
No awards presentation at the event.
10 – 20% of cars will be scrutineered, spot checks will be made during the day.
Noise tests will still be undertaken for all cars.
Mobile catering unit will be attending.
Portable toilets will be provided.

This is going to be a very different event from those we normally enjoy at Barbon, particularly without spectators. Some areas will be out of bounds to help achieve social distancing – eg adjacent to the tyre warming area. We hope you understand why these measures have to be put in place and we hope you appreciate the amount of work that’s gone on behind the scenes over the last few months to enable the event to run at all. Let’s hope some of the above can be relaxed in time for our July Hillclimb.

As we learn more, we shall update this information with details of the restrictions applicable to each event.

Thanks for bearing with us, stay safe.
