How to Enter the Aintree Sprints:-

There  are now two ways of sending in your entry for an Aintree sprint:-

1.   Enter & Pay with our new secure on-line system:

Download the  2012 Aintree Sprint Supplementary Regulations. These Regs are for use use with the online entry form and have no entry forms attached. You should read the regulations before proceeding with your entry application.

To claim the Liverpool Motor Club member’s discount on-line you will first need to join the Club. Please complete the online membership application form which will be found on the Membership – Join Us page. Once you have done this, you should return to this page and immediately proceed to the on-line entry form for the event(s) that you are interested in; the entry form contains instructions on what to do if you haven’t  yet received an LMC membership number.

Click one of  the three buttons above for the sprint you wish enter to access the correct form, (double check you’ve got the right date!), then fill in the rest of the details requested. Follow the instructions on the form to claim the LMC member’s discount. Because we are charged £3.50 or £3.40 by PayPal for each payment we receive, non-members will pay a total of £101.50, and members will pay £98.40 to enter on-line. Note that we are not making a profit on entries made this way, merely covering a proportion of the PayPal charge.
Why enter on-line? By entering on-line you will avoid the risk of postal loss or delays & will receive immediate confirmation of receipt of your entry, and you don’t need a stamp or envelope!

2. Enter By post:

Download the, 2012 Aintree Sprint Supplementary Regulations including Entry Forms plus postal entry forms, (link will go live shortly).  This is the postal version and includes the same regulations as above plus all 3 entry forms. You should read the regulations before proceeding with your entry application.

You can complete the relevant entry form for each of the sprints you wish to enter on your computer before printing & signing them and posting them to us at the address given, together with your payment. This is obviously slower as you are relying totally on the postal service. If you are reading this, you must have internet access, so why not use our on-line service to make sure we receive your application as quickly as possible  -  it is secure and available 24/7.

To claim the Liverpool Motor Club member’s discount, you can join Liverpool Motor Club by post using our Membership Application Form . You can complete it on your computer before printing it off, adding your signature and posting it to us with your event entry form(s), including a separate cheque for £10.00. If you are entering all three Aintree Sprints, your cumulative discount almost pays for your membership….. enter a track day as well, and you are making a profit!

To download the forms you’ll need the latest version of Adobe Reader. If you haven’t already got this, you can download it free from Adobe’s website.

The main changes to the 2012 Aintree Sprint Regulations are as follows:

Requirement for towing points:
(All classes) Cars shall have a towing point of adequate strength at both front & rear, clearly marked by an arrow and the word “Tow” using a contrasting colour.  A suitable point on the roll hoop will generally suffice for open single seater and open sports racing cars.
We understand that that this wording, or something very similar, will be incorporated in the Blue Book effective from the 01/01/2013.

Suspension:
We have also adopted the changes to suspension detailed in the 2012 Blue Book (S11.7.1 to S11.7.8).

Background to the North & Midland Recommended Classes and Clarifications
In order to clarify the vagaries of the Blue Book and to bring into use a common set of speed classes, LMC lead a team in 2009 to review the current rules and develop a set of standard classes for Speed events. Our aim was to encourage new competitors to the sport with easily understood descriptions of a Standard Road Car whilst making the rules clearer for existing competitors and scrutineers. Since 2009, the clarifications have been further refinded following feedback from competitors.

We have received strong support from the MSA and we recommend that you look at the classes and the explanatory notes contained within our Sprint regulations, particularly if you have a car that you intend using in the road-going classes.

Who is using these classes?
With very few exceptions, we managed to persuade all clubs in the North West, North East and Midlands to use the classes as listed.  Some organisers have decided to add extra classes or amalgamate some of those shown in order to accommodate local practice. The structure is being adopted voluntarily so, whilst we have requested that all clubs/championships keep to the same class numbering system, we cannot compel them to do so. If you find a club or championship that is not using the new structure, why not strongly suggest to the organisers that it would be a good idea for them to adopt it, for the good of all competitors?

Please Note: The only clubs that we know are not using our clarifications are Wigton MC and those with events at Prescott, Shelsley & Loton Park.

We welcome feedback on your experiences during the year so that we can tell how successful the classes have been, and can consider any minor tweaks that may be required for 2013.
We thank everyone who has given us their input so far.

You can inspect and comment on future proposed changes to MSA regulations on their website, www.msauk.org/regulations.

Don’t forget, if you are also taking part in a few events in addition to those at Aintree, you could be eligible for an award by joining the Chester & Liverpool Motor Clubs’ Speed Championship – the Best in the NorthWest!
